Beautification Commission recommends approval.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City Clerk’s Office received 14 total applications for the 2023 Beautification Matching Grant Program ahead of the March 9, 2023, deadline.
The Beautification Commission reviewed applications during a work session on March 17, 2023, and voted to approve recommendations to City Council on April 6, 2023.
This year, 2 applicants did not meet requirements, 8 applicants qualified as Tier 1, and 4 applicants qualified as Tier 2.
Tier 2 properties are either geographically outside of the core of downtown Valdez or have previously received funding through this program.
If Tier 1 applicants are fully funded- the total amount of funding left over for Tier 2 applicants is roughly $22,000.
Tier 2 applicant amounts were weighted using each applicant’s overall score (average score/ total points possible).
The following formula was used to determine grant award amounts:
Weighted award= (total qualifying $ amount X score) / 2
