RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the contract with Harris Sand & Gravel, Inc. for the Water Main Replacement Meals to Richardson Highway project in the amount of $793,000

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

This project was put out for bid from May 17, 2022 to June 1 2022. We received a total of 2(two) bids.

This project includes, but is not limited to:

Clearing and grubbing a path through an area with large trees, and replacement of approximately 1,800 feet of 8-inch water main between Meals and the Richardson Highway in the City of Valdez, Alaska. The project shall include connecting to existing water mains in four locations, and installation of a “hot tap” valve to keep the water service to the medical campus uninterrupted during construction. The project shall include a new fire hydrant, rerouting and connecting a 2-inch water service to a Church, and stubbing out a 2” water service for future development. System downtime and continuity of service to existing water user will also be required.

 

Construction Schedule: Project will start August 2022. Supply chain issues for materials will determine the exact start date of this project.

 

Engineers Estimate for construction under $1,152,000
