RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint two applicants to each serve a two-year term, expiring in October 2023
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Two vacancies exist on the City Parks & Recreation Commission due to normal term expiration.
The City Clerk’s Office advertised the vacancies and received three applications:
• Sharry Miller
• Benjamin Rush
• Pete Carter
The two selected appointees will each serve a two-year term, expiring in October 2023.
Procedural Note: Council will select two applicants by paper ballot prior to making a motion to put this agenda item on the floor for discussion. The two applicants receiving the most votes will be named for appointment in the motion.
Note: The applicants for these vacancies submitted applications prior to recent changes to policy regarding term length and attendance. The application form has since been updated to include questions reflecting those topics. The applicants are aware of the changes. However we did not require them to submit a revised application to make it easier on them and not penalize them for being proactive and applying many months in advance of the vacancies.
