SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Please see that attached report of the Code Enforcement Officer activities thus far in 2021, as it relates to Nuisance Properties and Vehicle Abatement.

Also attached is the Code Enforcement Implementation and Strategy Guide that was presented to, and approved by, Council on March 19th, 2019.

The document continues to serve as the primary guiding document for all Code Enforcement Officer activities, as it outlines processes, timelines, and articulated objectives.  Additionally, the document provides clarification on those code violations that rest solely with the Code Enforcement Officer, as opposed to those that may require assistance or input from other departments, or be the sole responsibility of said department.

Lastly, the document addresses the “Zone by Zone” program and the systematic approach to any proactive enforcement.  As identified in the document, Zone 4 remains the area in which the Code Enforcement Officer conducts proactive activity.  Action in other zones commence upon a valid complaint reported to the Code Enforcement Officer.

It seems appropriate that the prioritization of nuisances, and the enforcement zones, be revisited occasionally.  I look forward to additional discussions on the matter.
