Discuss and give feedback to PRCS staff
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to improve user safety and experience at the Valdez Shooting Range.
PRCS Director posted a call for interested parties to attend a meeting on May 14, 2021 to discuss the operations of the Valdez Shooting Range.
Alaska On Target (AOT) submitted a letter of interest to operate the shooting range and PRCS Director through collaboration with AOT created a MOU outlining the agreement to operate the range.
Recreation Commission discussed shooting range safety mitigation strategies during a work session on 12/17/2020. A third party operator of the shooting range was discussed and recommended.
Recreation Commission discussed shooting range upgrade options at a meeting on 1/12/2021 and an upgrade recommended was third party operator.
On 3/16/2021 City Council approved the following via Resolution 21-20:
Rhonda Wade representing Alaska On Target will speak to her intentions and next steps for the shooting range.
