RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the contract with Build Alaska General Contracting, LLC for Mineral Creek Bridge Repairs in the amount of $735,350.00
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Project Description: This project makes repairs to the guardrail, supporting structure, and expansion joints of the Mineral Creek (Bette Cato) Bridge.
Project Justification: These repairs will improve the condition of this bridge as identified by the AK DOT during the last biennial inspection in 2019 and are considered routine maintenance. These repairs have been deferred for a number of years but are now to the point where addressing them will prevent the need for more significant repairs in the future.
Construction Schedule: The Contractor has until September 1, 2021 to complete the work for this project.
Liquidated Damages: $500 per day.
Bidding: Two responsive bids were received by the bid opening deadline for this project. There were no non-responsive bids for this project. Build Alaska General Contracting, LLC was the low bid, and was approximately 13% above the Engineer’s Estimate.
Engineer’s Estimate: $650,000.00
