SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Corvus Design team has continued their work on the Comprehensive Plan revision project. They are on track to finalize the first deliverable of the project in the next couple of days. This Existing Conditions Report is an extensive overview of past planning efforts in Valdez and a detailed economic analysis completed by the team to help guide our visioning and goal setting.

The dates are now set for the first public meeting and the initial public comment gathering process. On July 14th, we will hold the first virtual public meeting via video conference. This will be a time for the team to introduce the process and schedule to the public, provide a detailed presentation of the Existing Conditions Report with a focus on the economic analysis, and introduce the forthcoming survey and opportunities for public input. The public meeting will serve as the kick-off to a two week period for the public to participate in the survey and other online comment/planning activities.

Both the public meeting and input opportunities will be promoted throughout the community with a direct mailing, as well as posters and social media posts. There will be opportunities for the to participate online through the project website, but we will also provide hard copies of the survey and other information at City Hall.

Prior to the public meeting, the team will meet with the CPAC steering committee to present the Existing Conditions report and discuss the plans for the public process, so both the CPAC and Planning Department staff can help increase public participation.
