RECOMMENDATION:

Approve Contract with Vision Construction International LLC for City Buildings Exterior Caulking in the amount of $624,856.67.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Project Description: This project includes removal and replacement of all exterior sealant joints on the Valdez City Hall, Valdez High School, and the Valdez Library. Additional additive alternates include treating all precast and cast in place wall surfaces with cleaner/stain remover, as well as resealing all precast and cast in place wall surfaces with specified product.

Construction Schedule: The Contractor has 106 calendar days to complete the work with substantial completion estimated by October 10th, 2020 with all work to be complete at the High School no later than August 10th, 2020. The expected start date is the week of June 29th.

Liquidated Damages: $350.00 per day.

Bidding: The City of Valdez received four responsive bids for this project. The low bidder was Vision Construction International LLC.

Engineers Estimate: Under $700,000.00

Additional Funding: The approved budget for the project is $550,000. Vision’s base bid is $330,399.91. Capital Facilities recommends approving both alternates for a total contract value of $624,856.67 to provide a superior weather proofing application. Funding for alternates will come from savings realized after bidding on the Kelsey Dock Decking project and no new monies will be needed from the general fund.
