SUMMARY STATEMENT:

My major role continues to be Incident Commander of the COVID-19 emergency.

The major emphasis in the emergency in last two weeks has been:

Testing for incoming fish processing employees.

Scenario based planning for virus outbreak within the Community.

Continue providing support for PIO in non-stop efforts to educate community on virsus.

In addition, the impending COVID-19 assistance program for residents impacted by the virus will be a major part of City of Valdez organizational efforts for the remainder of the month. Our staff’s goal is to process and evaluate the merits of every application submitted by Valdez residents. Mayor Pro Tempore Scheidt and Finance Director Brian Carlson did an outstanding job explaining the program on KVAK and I would encourage everyone to listen to the interview.

The next two weeks will involve the continued processing of COVID-19 assistance applications and working on the organization of the Mayor’s Task Force.
