RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Contract with Harris Sand & Gravel Inc. for Pavement Management Phase 1 - West Egan Drive in the Amount of $2,344,772.00
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Project Description: This project will repave West Egan Drive between Hazelet Avenue and Whalen Drive. Project scope also includes replacement or refurbishment of several inlet structures and manholes for the storm sewer utility.
This is a major recapitalization project that will renew the paved road, improve the storm water utility included, and make various minor improvements within the general scope of work.
Construction Schedule: The Contractor has until October 31, 2020 to complete the work for this project.
Liquidated Damages: $1,000 per day.
Bidding: Four responsive bids were received by the bid opening deadline for this project. There were no non-responsive bids for this project. Harris Sand & Gravel Inc. was the low bid, and was approximately 20% below the Engineer’s Estimate.
Engineer’s Estimate: $2,961,945.00
COVID-19 Considerations: Harris Sand & Gravel Inc. has been proactive and collaborative in working within the mandates for COVID-19. Final critical infrastructure work plans will be finalized prior to the start of construction.
