ITEM TITLE: 

Approval of Contract with Wolverine Supply, Inc. for the Kelsey Dock Deck Replacement Project in the Amount of $388,000.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the Contract with Wolverine Supply, Inc. for the Kelsey Dock Deck Replacement Project in the Amount of $388,000.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Project Description:  This project is for the replacement of the top decking (was 2 x 4 replacing with 2 x 6 PT) and installing a new railing on the back side (north side) at the Kelsey dock. In addition we will redo the existing railing to look like same as new railing.

Construction Schedule:  All work is to be completed within 180 days of the Notice to Proceed barring weather and COVID-19 issues.  The Contractor hereby agrees to commence work on this project with ten (10) working days after the date of the written Notice to Proceed and to complete all work in accordance with the contract documents and addendums within one hundred (180) calendar days of the Notice to Proceed.

Liquidated Damages:  $500.00 a day for each calendar day in excess of the completion date.

Bidding: Length of bid period was 60 days. 11 total bids were received and two deemed non-responsive

Engineer’s Estimate: The engineers estimate for construction is between $375,000.00 and $450,000.00

Design Review Stakeholders: Nathan Duval, Director of Capital Facilities, Jeremy Talbott, Director of Ports and Harbor, Larry Ables, Project Manager PND Engineering.

 

We anticipate coordinated closures of portions of the Kelsey Dock to accomplish the work and keep crews and the community safe. Schedule and sequencing will be finalized after the award of contract. There may be instances where there is no public access to the dock while work is ongoing.
