RECOMMENDATION:

Review federal legislative priorities

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Mayor, City Manager, and Assistant City Manager will be attending the NLC Legislative Conference in Washington, DC March 8th-11th. The following are proposed priorities to present to Federal legislators:

                     Flood Control -Lowe River.

                     Early Childhood Education/Daycare.

                     Rail Service.

                     Marine Highway/Ferry Funding.

                     AKLNG Project-FERC Environmental Impact Statement.

                     Housing.

                     Museum funding.

The intent is that our Federal representatives will inform City Officials about legislation or funding sources for the priorities listed above. Also, Senatorial and Congressional offices will monitor regulatory issues related to AKLGN and Rail Service and keep City staff updated on proceedings.
