SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Comprehensive Plan Revision selection committee chose the proposal from Corvus Design to present to Council for approval based on the credentials of the team and their experience in Alaska; their unique approach to the public outreach process; a demonstrated ability to effectively utilize existing data and fill data gaps; and their ideas on how to improve the process and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan as a living, working document.

Corvus Design has shown their commitment to being present in Valdez and their ability to provide deliverables on time and within budget. Attached is the Corvus Design proposal with a simplified fee statement and the proposed professional services agreement with a detailed fee statement.

The new Valdez Comprehensive Plan will weave together other recent planning efforts, including the recently adopted Waterfront Master Plan and forthcoming Parks & Recreation Master Plan. It will not only establish a broad vision for the future of Valdez, it will also set for forth specific, implementable strategies to focus our development efforts in the next 5-10 years and beyond.

Staff is confident that this process will provide a solid framework to tackle the necessary revision of our title 17 zoning code and support the ongoing efforts to improve efficiency in the Planning Department.
