SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Periodically the City of Valdez requires updates to the imagery and topography utilized by the City’s Geographical Information System (GIS). The last update was conducted in 2013 in conjunction with floodplain mapping and was supported by FEMA. Prior to 2013 the City conducted low quality updates in 2001, 2006 and 2009.

Money was appropriated in the approved 2019 budget for this comprehensive aerial imagery and LiDAR project.  GIS data is utilized by Planning, Police, Fire, Capital Facilities, Public Works and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Departments, as well as its availability to the general public.

The Request for Proposals was posted to the City website on June 5, 2019 to solicit competitive proposals with a two week opening for submittals.  During this open period, 7 plan holders registered for the project. At the closing of the submittal opening the City had received two serious project proposals.  The Quantum Spatial Inc. proposal was selected as the primary choice based on the cost, qualifications, experience and ability to meet the project specifications.  The professional services agreement for this project shall not exceed $95,277.00.  The Notice to Proceed was issued on July 30, 2019.
