SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Kelsey Dock Phase II project incorporates three distinct and interrelated scope items; The Yellow Building, modifications to existing Parks & Rec facilities on W. Egan, and construction of a new facility on W. Egan. The project has an appropriated budget balance of $7,235,866.41. The current contract for the three scope items is in the amount of $6,477,829.00. In response to Council meetings on July 16th, and in an effort to address Council concerns, the Capital Facilities Department would like to present the following alternatives for the Yellow Building below. The department is prepared to make a recommendation to Council after hearing feedback on the proposed alternatives and recommend a subsequent amendment to the RHC contract postponed from the previous meeting.
Renderings of the three options will be presented to Council at the work session.
Option 1 (Current Design) - Total: $2,339,903.00
Scope of Work:
As previously presented, the remodel of existing Warehouse 1 - Yellow Building work includes: The removal of a portion of the building's north side storage to accommodate the installation of ADA compliant parking and an ADA entry route into the Museum Annex, the removal of the storage space on the south side of the existing building to shorten the building's footprint and open up community space and views, refurbishment of the existing metal roof, new exterior paint, installation of new insulated metal panels with ipe trim on the north and south ends of the building, new canopy entry for the Museum Annex, an exterior mural giving an homage to Old Valdez, regrading and landscape beautification, ins...
