Approve a Contract with Harris Sand & Gravel, Inc. for the Pavement Maintenance - 2019 Project in the Amount of $741,910.00.



Project Description: The Pavement Maintenance Plan works go address and replace, or provide temporary repairs on some damaged roadways, including the following areas: Dylen Drive and River Drive - surface replacement; Meals Ave.; East Kobuk St.; Kennicott Ave.; East Hanagita St.; Fairbanks Dr.; and Clifton Dr.

These repairs are part of the comprehensive pavement and utilities management plan. In addition to these immediate repairs, design for Phase I repairs will commence this summer for implementation in Spring of 2020.

Construction Schedule: All work, with the exception of Meals Ave., will be completed in accordance with the contract documents by Sept. 2, 2019. Work on Meals Ave. only will not commence until after Labor Day, Sept. 2, 2019, and shall be completed in accordance with documents on Sept. 20, 2019.

Liquidated Damages: $1,000 per day

Bidding: Length of bid period was 22 days. Two bids were received.

Engineer’s Estimate: $450,000 to $550,000

Design Review Stakeholders: Nathan Duval, Director of Capital Facilities, Rob Comstock, Director of Public Works, and Ron Rozak, Construction Manager.
