SUMMARY STATEMENT:
It was recently brought to the attention of the building official that extenuating circumstances may exist which should allow for the installation of plastic piping for water lines which connect a building to the city water main. Currently the Valdez Municipal Code does not allow plastic pipe. While in most cases copper piping is preferred by the public works director; in a circumstance where corrosive conditions such as a high sea water table are a factor, the proposed amendment would allow for the use of plastic piping upon approval by both the building official and the public works director.
