RECOMMENDATION:

Approve a Contract Award to Harris Sand & Gravel, Inc. for the Mineral Creek Bank Improvements Project in the Amount of $1,125,180.00.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Project Description: This project will construct and repair riprap erosion control structures in six different locations along a 6,600’ length of the Mineral Creek stream bed. Erosion damage has been taking place along the two upstream bridge revetments, the Homestead Road state park trail, Blueberry Hill road, the dike at Mineral Creek Heights and along a section of bank downstream of the bridge along the west side.

Construction Schedule: The Contractor has until October 31, 2019 to complete construction. The expected start date is the week of May 27, 2019.

Liquidated Damages: $1,000.00 per day

Bidding: Length of bid period was 29 days. Two bids were received.

Engineer’s Estimate: under $1,800,000.00

Design Review Stakeholders: Nathan Duval, Rob Comstock, Rochelle Rollenhagen, Kate Huber, Ann Marie Lain, Scott Benda, Brad Melocik, PE, PH, and Valdez Flood Task Force members.
