RECOMMENDATION:

The Valdez Police Department expresses no objection to the issuance of this license.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The City Clerk has received notice from the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office that they have received an application for a new Brewery License from Valdez Brewing, LLC which will be located at 141 Galena Drive (former Prospector building). The application and premises drawings are attached for review.

Following notification of a new license or renewal of an existing license by the Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office, the City Clerk’s office submits all license applications to the city council for approval.  The Police Chief is notified of the request and is provided the opportunity to express any concerns with the issuance of a new license or re-issuance of an existing liquor license. 

Although licenses are issued and regulated by the State of Alaska, a local governing body may protest the approval of an applicant pursuant to AS 04.11.480 by furnishing the director and the applicant with a clear and concise written statement of reasons for the protest within 60 days of receipt of the notice.
