SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The intent of this project is to renovate the dog kennel and grooming area at the animal shelter. Deterioration of the floor drains in the kennel area necessitates replacement and finishes within the kennel area are susceptible to mold growth. The project has been in progress for the past few years through evaluation, feasibility, and design.
Project scope entails replacing the drains, new radiant concrete flooring and CMU kennel partitions will be installed. An alternate for manufactured kennel partitions was included with this bid but it was found that the cost savings from these panels did not outweigh the longevity that would be brought from constructing CMU walls (alt 1). There was also a request from the animal shelter staff to include an alternate for an accessory storage building that would assist in daily operational functions not only during construction but after the completion of this project (alt 2). The storage structure will assist with intake of animals while the kennels are unavailable during construction.
TBI was the low bid for base bid plus alt 2. Zastrow Ent. was the low bid for the base bid (local bidder preference) and base bid plus alt. 1.
