RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Contract Award with Prosser-Dagg Construction Company, LLC for VHS Concrete Replacement in the Amount of $343,275.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The walkways at the east entrance of the High School, specifically entering near the gym, have degraded sufficiently that they necessitate replacement. Additionally, some grading and erosion issues with the north east corner of the parking lot have degraded that surface.
This project will replace the existing concrete walks with asphalt walkways that will withstand the snow removal equipment and the freeze thaw cycles better. Additional minor walkway repairs/replacement on the west side of the school will also take place, and some of the smaller sidewalks will be widened to accommodate pedestrian use.
The project scope is limited to a “replacement in kind” for the failed areas.
Prosser-Dagg was the low bid among the two received and is below the Engineer’s estimate (bid summary attached).
