RECOMMENDATION:
Consider part-time equivalent contract as submitted.
Approve or revise in conjunction with Valdez Medical Clinic.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
• Continuing with the physician recruitment and retention initiative implemented by Council in 2018, this agenda item represents the addition Dr. Parin Seakit to the physician staff, pro-rated to reflect 26% of a full-time schedule.
o Though Council did not explicitly authorize inclusion of part-time physicians in the underlying program, staff’s understanding of Council direction was that such proposals would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• The proposed part-time equivalent payment reflects terms in the physican’s employment agreement with Valdez Medical Clinic, which is not included in this agenda item, per section 1b of the approved recruitment and retention contract, which reads:
The City shall have the right to review any such agreement(s) with the understanding that the contents of any such agreement will be kept confidential from the public as required by such agreements or by law.
