Events Funding Requests

RECOMMENDATION:

Review and provide consensus direction to Staff

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

                     This budget request is embedded in the Economic Development Department. The remainder of that department budget will be discussed during the October 31 workshop.

                     Laurine Regan, Events Coordinator, will present the requests to Council.

                     The $378K dollar figure excludes two requests from Valdez Adventure Alliance (previously Levitation 49):

o                     Ice Climbing Festival, $9K

o                     Fat Bike Bash, $25K

                     Staff materials include detailed metrics and budgets for each proposed 2019 event.

                     Because it is a component of the proposed events schedule, the Events Coordinator will also discuss a proposed Major Equipment purchase of portable stage & lighting.  The remainder of the Major Equipment review will take place on Thursday, October 25.
