SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Kimley Horn has initiated forming a Community Plan Action Committee. This committee will meet on an ongoing basis, generally once a month during the comprehensive plan process for twelve months. They will be by conference call and/or face to face with Kimley Horn. They will be work session style meetings and include the appropriate city staff (depending on what element of the comprehensive plan being discussed) to review and discuss the appropriate goals, objectives, and policies proposed in the plan. You will also be providing feedback on in-progress work documents and provide recommendations to the City Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.
After speaking with the City Manager, it was decided that it would be a great opportunity for the EDC to take the lead and be a part of this committee. This commission will be able to have an impact on where the future of Valdez will go. This comprehensive plan will serve as a guide for all city departments for the next 20 years and beyond. Someone from Kimley Horn will be in touch with each of the commissioners to give specific information as to when the first meeting will be. Economic Development and Community Development will be the city Liaisons for this committee. I will still be available for Economic Development comments, questions concerns and ideas.
