RECOMMENDATION:

Approve contract with Wolverine Supply, Inc. for the Valdez Container Terminal Security Gate Replacement in the amount of $227,200

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

There were two bidders on the project, with Wolverine Supply Inc. significantly lower than the competitor. Wolverine was called and asked to review their bid submission for completeness and responsiveness. Wolverine stated that their bid was complete and they are able to perform the work.

The VCT gate has had a series of breakdowns this past year and during a high wind event this winter was bent beyond repair. The new gate is designed for higher wind loads.

The existing gate will continue to function throughout construction and will serve as the primary security access until such time as the new gate is fully operational.

Work will commence as soon as possible in order to allow contractor access to concrete prior to batch plant closing down for the season. Gate has a significant lead time and will be installed in this winter after arrival.
