RECOMMENDATION:

Approve Change Order # 30 to Dawson Construction for the New Middle School project in the amount of $ 47,729.61

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The School District made some changes increasing equipment in the New Middle School computer and communication rooms that facilitated the need to change the air conditioning in the rooms.  Room 156 (first floor) was originally to have an exhaust fan, but additional equipment required an air conditioning unit.  The air conditioning unit in mezzanine Room 203 was moved out of the room so potential water leaks or drips would not fall on the additional equipment.  This work is done.

The air conditioning unit in the mezzanine did not function well when installed / relocated, and the repairs / maintenance of the unit were onerous.  A few months ago, ducting was relocated, and that has seemed to fix the problem.  The Contractor, project manager, and architect have collaborated and offered to install a back-up air conditioner as no cost to the City as a way of smoothing the relationship on this issue.
