SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Each year the U.S. Coast Guard is required to review the certification of the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council (PWSRCAC) under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. Every three years, of which this is one, a more extensive application process is conducted, followed by a public comment period.

In December, PWSRCAC submitted their application for review and the public comment period has now opened. It is extremely important that the USCG hears from member organizations, partners, and the public during this process. Since the establishment of the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council, the City of Valdez has supported PWSRCAC by providing the U.S. Coast Guard with a resolution recommending recertification. After approval by Council, the City Clerk will submit the resolution to the U.S. Coast Guard.
