RECOMMENDATION:

Approve going into Executive Session regarding the City Clerk Annual Evaluation (part one).

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The City Clerk is an at-will contract employee and works directly for the Mayor and City Council. As such, the Mayor and City Council perform the Clerk’s annual performance evaluation and approve her contract.

During this Executive Session (part one), the Council will meet without the City Clerk to discuss her performance and compile feedback into one evaluation document.

The Council will then meet with the City Clerk in Executive Session (part two) during the October 19th regular meeting to discuss her performance, evaluation document, and any changes to her existing employment contract.

The Alaska Open Meetings Act AS 44.62.310 authorizes the Mayor and City Council to conduct the evaluation of the City Clerk and City Manager in executive session.
