RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the sale of the surplus 2008 Ford F550 Supercab 4x4 with Stellar Hydraulic Hooklift on GovDeals.net, with a reserve price of $15,000, as recommended by the City Manager.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Fleet Manager has determined that the 2008 Ford F550 Supercab 4x4 with a Stellar Hydraulic Hooklift should be designated as a surplus vehicle, as it is deemed a hazard due to its intended use (lifting heavy yard bags full of grass clippings into the hopper) and has no further value in any City operations. The fair market value has been determined to be about $30,000.
In accordance with VMC 4.06.020 - Approval of Sale and Disposal of Surplus City Property, items with a fair market value over $10,000 require city council approval prior to disposal. The City Manager recommends setting an initial minimum acceptable bid (reserve price) at $15,000 to encourage competitive bidding.
The sale will be conducted via public auction on GovDeals.net, an online government surplus auction platform that supports open and competitive bidding.
This vehicle has been replaced by a new F550 Rearload that is equipped with a hydraulic bag tipper to assist the employee.
