RECOMMENDATION:
Approve contract with Harris Sand and Gravel for Robe River Drive Water Repair in the amount of $ 69,850.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The six inch water main going east on Robe River Drive was not re-connected when the water mains were re-routed around the new Middle School. This was discovered by our public works crews this summer. The consulting engineer relied on City drawings that did not show a water main in Robe River Drive west of the High School. There was a valve near the end of the six inch water main that was left off, and that created a dead-end in the six inch water main. No one was out of water, but the water main was no longer looped.
This project is to excavate and expose the new eight inch piping that was installed two years ago, install a tee and valve in the new eight inch pipe, connect to the six inch pipe, and thereby re-create the looped system. The trench will then be backfilled, and the curb and asphalt replaced.
