SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Ordinance 24-07 is attached.

This ordinance establishes rules for the keeping of poultry in residential areas.

Keeping poultry was not allowable in most residential neighborhoods under the prior zoning code. If adopted the ordinance would allow for residents to keep up to 6 hens on a 40,000 square foot lot (lots larger than this can have up to 24 hens).

It would also require electric fencing to be used during the summer months to deter bears and other predators and disallow the keeping of roosters and other noisy or potentially dangerous fowl.
