RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Amendment #5 to Arcadis for continued professional services on the Valdez New Boat Harbor Project in the amount of $77,301.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The basis of Arcadis’ agreement with the City is for Time and Expenses incurred providing project and construction management services for the Valdez New Boat Harbor (VNBH) project. Their proposal for 2016 services, approved in January, included an estimate of $616,691. There have been multiple issues requiring additional time and expenses to administer the project in 2016, including rock removal analyses, coordination of the Corps of Engineers work, design reviews requested of their subcontractor, PND Engineers, etc. As such, Staff recommends approval of Amendment #5 to provide funding for Arcadis to continue their work toward closeout of Phase 1. This amendment is projected to cover their expenses through the end of November 2016.
Accordingly, the project team needs direction from City Council on how to move forward with the remaining harbor construction, to be discussed as a separate agenda item at this City Council meeting. Direction from City Council with regard to remaining construction will allow for Staff to setup the consulting agreements for City Council approval to administer the remaining work.
The proposed amendment (#5) along with the current amendment (#4) to Arcadis’ professional services agreement are attached.
