RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the purchase of a new Volvo L30H Loader including a 1-year warranty and delivery to the City of Valdez in the amount of $125,965.00.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

This agenda item pertains to the purchase of a new Volvo L30H Loader and accessories, which includes a one-year warranty and delivery to the City of Valdez. This purchase is a budgeted item for 2025 and will replace the Port Division’s current 2011 Bobcat S100 in accordance with the Major Equipment Schedule. The expected lifespan of the new loader is 10 years.

The purchase price of the Volvo L30H Loader and the accessories reflects a 42.1% discount off the list price of $184,913.00, as it is being procured through the Sourcewell Cooperative Government Agreement.

Accessories included in this purchase are:

                     96” Snow Blade is priced at $5,925.00

                     84” Angle Blade is priced at $4,500.00

                     Tire Chains are priced at $5,500.00

The loader will be used for Port operations and large-scale snow removal.

Once the new Volvo L30H is in service, we will seek approval to sell the 2011 Bobcat S100 in accordance with Municipal Code 4.06.020, which governs the sale and disposal of surplus city property.
