Approve Resolution 26-26.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of Valdez will host its annual Community Clean-Up Event beginning May 16, 2026. This event encourages residents to improve the community’s appearance, safety, and overall condition by removing accumulated debris and waste from their properties.
Resolution 26-26 waives solid waste disposal fees for up to ten cubic yards of non-wood and clean wood materials deposited at the construction and demolition waste pit from May 16 through May 23, 2026. This temporary waiver aligns with past city practices and supports increased participation by reducing financial barriers for residents.
The waiver is expected to result in a minor reduction in fee revenue but will provide a significant community benefit through improved neighborhood conditions, reduced fire hazards, and enhanced overall aesthetics. Encouraging participation in the clean-up effort supports the city’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents and visitors alike.
