SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Commissioner Weaver put forward the idea of building a “snow pole” to measure the annual snow fall at previous meetings an example from Erie, PA.
This idea was identified in the project discussion as a potentially low cost and high impact short-term project that could help the Beautification Commission to gain visibility and would provide a photo op for visitors and local.
An example of the Keweenaw Snow Gauge, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is included as an attachment.
The aim of this discussion is to reach consensus of where a snow gauge could be located, to compile considerations for its construction and to discuss timeline for its creation - with the intent of having this project be an action item at the August meeting.
