SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Senior Housing Grant Application-The Alaska Housing Finance Authority announced that the applications for tax credits and other federal grants funds are now due January 12, 2022. The original grant application due date was November 24, 2021. This delay was necessitated by the delay on the marketing study. Preliminary review of the market study indicated Valdez has the capacity for 28-30 Senior units. More information will be forthcoming.
Daycare/early childhood education- The City Manager will be working with Stepping Stones on an MOU to create a framework for future funding for the early childhood learning center.
The 0-3 Families Alliance Group will be meeting again November 5, 2021 to discuss the development of an RFP for an assessment study related to early childhood education in Valdez. The Assistant Manager Roxanne Murphy will work on the issue with the Alliance and Nick Fairline, City of Valdez Parks, Recreation, and Culture Services Director will be involved with the Alliance group as well.
Project update-Assistant City Manager/Capital Facilities Director Nate Duval and I will make a final presentation for 2021 on project status update at the November 30th City Council meeting, forgoing an update at the November 2, 2021 meeting due to an already lengthy agenda.
City Manager Calendar- I will be attending AML/AMMA November 15th-19th. Assistant City Manager/Capital Facilities Director Nathan Duval will be in charge in that week.
I will be traveling at Thanksgiving, leaving Wednesday the 24th and will be back in the office by Monday, November 29th.
I will also be traveling during Christmas and New Years' leaving December 22nd and returning January 3rd, 2022.
