RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the purchase of a Caterpillar 906M Loader with accessories from NC Machinery in the amount of $94,889.00
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This loader will be purchased using the current government National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) contract and is in the 2016 City of Valdez Major Equipment budget. This new loader will replace a 2009 Caterpillar 906 model with 4542 hours (which will move out to the Sewer Treatment Plant) and the 2000 Caterpillar 906 (which is currently assigned to the Sewer Treatment Plant and will be put out to surplus).
This loader is being replaced in accordance with the 10 year Major Equipment replacement schedule and will be given a 7 year rotation schedule and reassessed at that time for condition and value.
The 2000 Caterpillar 906 model loader will be sold once the new loader is delivered, so that there is no change to the size of the fleet as a result of this purchase.
