SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Old Town Museum Lighting Upgrade was out to bid for 30 days and six (6) bids were submitted. Frontier Electric Services of Valdez submitted the low bid of $82,475. The project consists of removing and replacing the existing overhead and track lighting in the building.
The Old Town Museum was last renovated in 2006 and the existing lighting is in poor condition and not up to current standards. Museum staff has had difficulty properly illuminating the various displays and patrons have been seen using the flashlights on their phones to help brighten the wording on the descriptions and interpretive signs. This project will greatly enhance the experience for visitors and provide an added level of safety when navigating their way through and around the displays.
Construction is scheduled for this fall and will be substantially complete by February 15, 2027.
