SUMMARY STATEMENT:
A Council Member has inquired about the Subdivision known as the Valdez Townsite, particularly the area near Cooper Avenue and Valdez Glacier Stream, and its current ownership status and potential nuisance violations.
A number of Valdez Townsite parcels were bought by a local property owner approximately 5 years ago. Some of the parcels have since been sold to other property owners. The area was platted over 100 years ago, but the platting does not conform to current Valdez planning and zoning standards.
-The property is in the future land use map as working waterfront and light industrial.
-The property is currently zoned light industrial.
-The property (under Valdez current land use regulations) will face extensive issues if considered for development.
-A conservator is currently handling the remaining parcels on behalf of a local property owner. Staff is planning on discussing with conservator current status of 18 lots in the Valdez Townsite area that may be available for purchase.
Continued inquiries are being made about the current uses of the property.
