RECOMMENDATION:
Approve funding for 2025 Beautification Matching Grant Applicants in the amount of $32,998.92.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City Clerk’s Office received 4 total applications for the 2025 Beautification Matching Grant Program ahead of the application deadline.
The Beautification Commission reviewed these applications and voted to approve recommendations to City Council for full funding of all projects at their meeting on May 5, 2025.
This year, the commission determined that there was adequate funding to fully fund both Tier 1 and Tier 2 grant applications. The summary of recommend grant funding is outlined below:
• B’s Hive - $610.00 - Tier 1
o The requested amount of $700 was not equal to 50% of total project costs, Beautification Commission adjusted grant award.
• Quad Shot Espresso - $7388.92- Tier 1
o Feedback was given to the applicant on potential conflict between proposed design and State of Alaska Right of Way.
• Valdez Outfitters Warehouse - $12,500.00 - Tier 1
o Only the siding and not the roofing portion of the proposed project met grant requirements, but the maximum grant amount was still recommended due total project cost.
• Capt’n Joe’s Gas - $12,500.00 - Tier 2
o The Beautification Commission recommended full project funding for Tier 2 applicant.

Grantees must complete all work and submit qualifying receipts prior to reimbursement.
