SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Project Description: The existing Providence Valdez Medical Center Generator is at end of life and repairs and replacement parts are difficult to obtain and needs to be replaced. Additionally, deficiencies of the generator have been noted in Hospital surveys and we have been granted waivers in anticipation of this replacement project.
The project scope includes providing a replacement diesel fired, level 1, emergency power system (EPS), CAT generator in a sound attenuated, heated, full walk-in artic enclosure for the Providence Valdez Medical Center. The existing hospital generator and associated concrete pad will be removed from the maintenance building. The existing clinic generator and associated concrete pad will also be removed and the entire facility will be powered by a single backup-power source.
The scope of work is more specifically described in the attached complete contract titled "Providence Valdez Medical Center Level 1 EPS Generator Replacement."
Construction Schedule: The contractor has until June 1, 2025, to complete the project. The expected start is the summer/fall of 2024, but the generator has a 55-week lead time and replacement will occur in 2025. The final completion date may likely have to be extended based on material lead times.
Bidding: The project originally went out to bid for five weeks. Then multiple contractors requested more time, and the bid-opening was extended two more weeks. The bid-opening was extended again for two more week...
