SUMMARY STATEMENT:

In March 2024 the City issued a Request for Qualifications and Bettisworth North was selected to perform a site analysis and provide corresponding design for a potential child care facility in Valdez.

Following the site analysis process, the City Council work sessions (9/3 & 10/1), and subsequent action item on 10/1/2024, Bettisworth North provided a fee proposal for the design of a child care facility in the west wing of Hermon Hutchens Elementary. Prior to actual design, the consultants will work with the Council and the School Board on evaluating the existing facility and student population impacts.

General tasks for the contract include but are not limited to:

                     Programming and Student Capacity Study

                     50%, 95%, & 100% design documents

                     Hazmat Survey

                     Contractor coordination

During the Project’s work session it was proposed to use available funds from Council Contingency Reserve to fund the design effort.

Additional funds will be required once the design advances to construction.
