SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The project team for East Peak Resort reached out to the City Manager to request a work session with City Council to outline their specific request for City of Valdez support.
The first part of the work session will be a brief overview of the history of the project and city involvement or support to date.
The second part of the work session is reserved for the project team to present their “ask” to City Council and for Council Members to have the opportunity to ask questions.
Included in the packet are the following background materials:
• Timeline of previous City Council involvement in proposed resort development at this site
• Valdez Year-Round Mountain Recreation Site Study (2016)
• East Glacier Stream Access Study (2021)
• Presentation from East Peak Resort Team
Finance Department staff are using cost data from the 2016 site study to update cost expectations to current estimated values (for 2024).
