RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the FY2027 [July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027] Community Jail Contract with the State of Alaska.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The total contract amount for FY2026 was $615,360.15 for the period of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
The total contract amount for FY 2027 is $1,118,085.04 for the period from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The base contract amount for the community jail is $1,076,910.99. Sentenced electronic monitoring (EM) for $10,000.00 is included in this contract. The Pretrial Services contract amount is $31.174.05 (Pretrial Electronic Monitoring $17,145.73 + Pretrial Supervision $14,028.32).
The annual contract has historically funded only a percentage of the full and true cost of operating the community jail on behalf of the State. This funding increase represents a dramatic shift toward operational parity.
