SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Valdez City Code requires the city council to appoint judges and clerks for the regular municipal election and set the hourly rate of compensation. For the past 15 years the rate of compensation has been set at $12.00 per hour. I am requesting an increase in hourly pay for our election workers to $14.00 per hour. Our election workers begin their day at 6:30 a.m. and work until close of polls at 8:00 p.m. Our three Election Chair’s usually work with the City Clerk until 10:00 pm to tabulate the final election results. The change in hourly compensation would result in an overall increase of $360.00.I have sufficient funds in the City Clerk election budget to absorb this increase in compensation for the May 1st regular municipal election.
