RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Ports & Harbors Commission formally support the proposed recognition proclamation and forward a recommendation to the Valdez City Council for approval.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Ports & Harbors Commission has been asked to consider supporting a resolution recognizing Chris Herman for his contributions to Valdez’s cruise industry, local businesses, and community partnerships.
Mr. Herman has worked closely with Valdez businesses to help them better understand and serve cruise line operations, develop shore excursion products, meet operational and insurance requirements, and establish sustainable pricing. He has also supported educational efforts, cruise line outreach, and coordination of passenger and excursion activities within the community.
His work has helped strengthen the relationship between local businesses, cruise operators, the City of Valdez, and the traveling public.
