SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The current plan outlines procedures to review the plan document on an annual basis to ensure that the mitigation strategies are implemented according to the plan; provide the foundation for an ongoing mitigation program in our community; integrate mitigation principles into community officials' daily job responsibilities and department roles; and maintain momentum through continued engagement and accountability in the plan's progress.
The plan states, "The Planning and Zoning Commission with staff support from the Community Development Department of the City of Valdez will take the lead role in monitoring the implementation of the mitigation actions identified in the Plan. To facilitate HMP maintenance, the Community Development Director is designated as the staff member to serve as the City's Hazard Mitigation Coordinator (HMC). The HMC will be the point of contact for natural hazard mitigation-related issues and serve as the lead coordinator on the HMP revision."
This progress report will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission on February 14, 2024, as part of this annual review.
