SUMMARY STATEMENT:

This proposal was submitted for consideration by the City Council.

Although this proposal was not on the original Capital Budget, this project has been reviewed and approved by Executive Leadership, and the Providence Valdez Medical Center (PVMC) recommendation is to move forward with this upgrade.

Project description (forwarded as received):

•                     Providence partners with Philips for virtual patient monitoring equipment in the acute hospital setting. Based on a recent evaluation of equipment deployed across Providence Alaska, our IS team has suggested the replacement of certain modules related to this infrastructure. This upgrade will align PVMC with the latest monitoring technology used across Providence Alaska ministries, allows the expansion of this technology into ED and Trauma areas, expands remote monitoring capabilities at the local nursing desk, and brings the networking backbone onto Providence platforms versus vendor-provided services currently deployed. The estimated cost for this upgrade is $163,607.82

The Providence Valdez Medical Center (PVMC) Capital Projects Budget includes no cash contributions from the City. The funding source for PVMC capital projects is the PVMC Enterprise Fund derived from accumulated hospital operating surplus.

The original 2026 Operating Budget and Capital Budget are attached for reference, PVMC staff will be available for questions.
