SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Issuance of Temporary Land Use Permit 26-09 to the Fireweed 400, Inc. for an approximately 5.6-acre portion of 3100 Richardson Highway, Tract D 79-116 owned by the City of Valdez

 

Fireweed 400, Inc. received temporary land use permit 26-09 for use of an approximately 5.6-acre portion of 3100 Richardson Highway, Tract D 79-116 for July 11th - July 13th , 2026 for parking, temporary camping and a beer garden for the finish line for the Fireweed 400 bike race at a portion of the Gold Fields softball complex (see attached permit and designated area shown in Exhibit A). 

 

Chief of Police and Parks and Recreation Director were solicited for comments on the application and had no concerns. 

 

Pursuant to Valdez Municipal Code 17.12.120 (G) Approval Criteria, staff review of the proposed temporary use request found that all 10 approval criteria were satisfied.

Per resolution #23-43, this permit was exempted from permit fees as a community celebration less than 10 days in duration.
