SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Tyler Robinson from Cook Inlet Housing Authority and Shanna Zuspan from Agnew::Beck Consulting in Anchorage gave a presentation at the Alaska Planning Association conference just prior to AML in November. The presentation focused on walking the audience through development of a pro forma for a market rate housing project in Anchorage. Staff began working with Mr. Robinson and Ms. Zuspan almost immediately about coming to Valdez to give the presentation with some items more refined for Valdez - including a walkthrough of the planning for a tax credit affordable housing project. A tax credit project is what Mark Lewis from Alaska Pacific Development Group was proposing for Valdez in the draft MOU that was presented to Council earlier this year. Council gave direction to develop an RFP for a tax credit affordable housing project. That effort is underway, in the very early stage. Staff may be using Mr. Robinson and Ms. Zuspan to assist in the development of that document.
This presentation will help Valdez more thoroughly understand the nuances of housing projects, and the public contributions often necessary to bring them to fruition. Staff welcomes Tyler Robinson and Shanna Zuspan for this presentation by two experts in this field.
